The Mercury 25 hp Jet is designed to get you through some of the most challenging waters anywhere. This is a replacement kicker motor for my 22′ boat. The original was stolen after performing flawlessly for 12 years. This one so far is just as reliable, and easy to use. I buy Mercury outboards because of their reliability but was a little disappointed to learn they aren’t American made (Japanese and German).

There is a pre-delivery inspection checklist that should be adhered to before the product is delivered to the customer. This PDI was blank inside the box with the outboard, indicating that the REQUIRED procedure wasn’t done by West Marine, necessitating a visit to the local Mercury dealer for a one hour work order for $110, paid by me. This is to ensure that all required inspections were done according to the manufacturer. West Marine needs to either inform the customer about the lack of PDI inspection, or pay for the subsequent necessary PDI work by the local Mercury dealer.
